“Walking in the footsteps of no one else’s shoes…” After spending years in successful jambands throughout the tri-state area, Mike Callahan decided to break out with his own band and spread his own personal message. Raised just outside New York City, Mike Callahan has been onstage for his entire life, first as an actor, then as a musician. Mike found his calling during college as a songwriter. Mike is a singer of rare power, whose every movement on stage is mesmerizing. Along the way he picked up the harmonica to add another weapon to his arsenal. With stints in several regional bands, Mike has appeared at a number of major venues in the tri-state area, including Tribeca Rock Club, the Bitter End, and the late Tobacco Road. Highlights include an appearance alongside pedal steel phenom Robert Randolph (Robert Randolph and the Family Band) at the Mercury Lounge.

Recently, Mike wanted to add a little more meaning to his band and decided to create a forum to get his own message across. Joining with a core group of locally based musicians whose roots can be found in a combination of southern rock, blues, funk and their own derivative of jam based music, The Mike Callahan Band has come together. A group of talented friends, destined to create a unique sound and spread their good time party vibe to an ever growing fan base.

With a new sound fusing the sixties soul of Otis Redding, the vocal power of Joe Cocker, the Southern rock of the Black Crowes, and the meaningful lyrical styles of Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, and U2, The Mike Callahan Band presents a show that is not merely a concert, but an experience.

The songs are filled with personal lyrics and stories with messages of hope, love, and the pursuit of good times. The Mike Callahan Band is all about fun and looking towards the future, with an occasional smirk and a smile at the past. They strive to expand the community they have built together through years of friendship. With a new album to arrive in the fall of 2005, there are big things on the horizon. “This train is bound for glory, don’t get left behind…”
